Fluffdom Express: Northern Essence: All Natural Diaper Rash Salve {CLOSED}

I first heard of Northern Essence at Mama Dweeb during her Daddy Diaper Event earlier this year. I’m a bit sad to say that I totally forgot about getting some diaper rash ointment to use after J’s surgery, especially one that was cloth diaper friendly. Of course, it totally irked me later, when I used the regular prescription stuff and our diapers started repelling.

I was thrilled when Traci agreed to participate in the event. J had gotten antibiotics while inpatient and that combined with his very tender bum, he had some NASTY diaper rash that wouldn’t clear up. It seemed to take 15 or so days to clear up with the prescription stuff and then it would come right back. When the diaper salve come from Northern Essence and we put it on J, his, then current, diaper rash cleared up in 3 days! I was so excited. It had been getting to be quite the battle to wipe J’s bum since his skin was raw. It also smells delicious... Just in case you ever wondered!

Why worry about diaper rashes? Antibiotics are well known for causing diaper rashes. Nowadays, there are many creams for preventing and treating diaper rashes, such as Calmoseptine and Boudreaux’s Butt Paste and insurance companies dislike paying for these pastes/creams/ointment, so the hospitals put pressure on families to use the preventative pastes. We got a tube of paste while in the hospital and on the instructions it said “after putting on the paste, put on aquaphor so the cheeks don’t stick together.” You can pretty well guess that we didn’t use it!
